About the Show

Sweet Lorraine by Jo Jo Dellapina

Present day, Los Angeles. Lorraine Cutter, on a random encounter, bumps into her ex-husband Arthur Cutter, at a neighborhood coffee shop. The two have not seen or spoken to each other in ten years, after Lorraine filed and won a divorce settlement from Arthur on grounds of mental cruelty. Lorraine invites herself to join Arthur for coffee. She flatters and charms him. She reminisces about the good times of their courtship and marriage. She confesses that she made a mistake when she ended their marriage. Arthur concedes that he may have been at fault as well, blaming their troubles on their youth. He accepts Lorraine’s apology. Lorraine confides that she is lonely and afraid of growing old and suggests that she and Arthur try to rekindle their marriage because the make-up sex was good. But Arthur rebuffs her attempts to and Lorraine’s cajoling good humor takes a devious twist. It soon becomes obvious Lorraine has been stalking Arthur, compiling information on his apartment, car, finances, girlfriends, and lifestyle. She pleads guilty but she was trying to decide whether she is still attracted to Arthur. She begs Arthur for a second chance at a relationship.
Arthur confronts the reality of their marriage, including Lorraine’s bi-polar disorder and sadomasochistic tendencies. She took Arthur’s beloved cat to an animal shelter after a long power struggle. Lorraine is tenacious, and her tactics evolve into actual threats. Will Arthur succumb to Lorraine’s plans to renew their life together? How far will Lorraine go to make her scheme a reality?
