It was only about 20 minutes, but honestly… I wanted a whole series. That’s how good it was.
The show was hilarious in that smart, effortless way where you’re laughing, but also admiring how creative and tight everything is. The timing, the characters, the writing. So good. It felt like being dropped into another era, very pre-internet, pre-cell phones, pure 80s/90s energy. The kind of storytelling where personality carries everything and you don’t need flashy tech to stay locked in.
There was something really refreshing about that. Just strong performances, real humor, and moments that felt familiar in the best way. Nostalgic, chaotic, warm, and sharp all at once....

Momma! I burnt the chicken! Had its sold out premiere and clearly resonated with the audience. A warm, hilarious, and deeply personal production that will stand out as one of the most engaging and comedic shows of the festival. The set transported us back to the 1990s with the sounds of 90s commercials playing from the TV; the audience even joyfully sang along to the Toys R Us theme song. Nina Childs was so free on the stage, commands with ease and authenticity, and we enjoyed every moment of it. A simple concept that takes the public persona of a churchgoing woman into her private home with her unguarded self, capturing something both specific and universal for a memorable theatrical experience....

Too short! I wanted more. When the director/writer Ms. Child’s, said,” That’s it, thank you for coming! There was a universal “WHAT, IT’S OVER?” from the audience. It kept me laughing and reflecting on how I see my church people. The main character Kori,
( really, the only character), seemed so natural with portraying herself as a kinda good Christian with some issue. One of my favorite parts was when Kori changed from her work clothes into her pajamas. Very creative and hilarious. Also, talking to Jesus, Kori’s expressions were “on point”. You knew she was scarily surprised! I can’t wait for the next production, especially with Kori as the main character!
Kudos!!...
